Gearing Up For A Long Road Trip With Family: Top 5 Tips

By Beth Smith

You desire for a worry-free road trip travel experience but don't know how and where to start. Fret not, because discussed below are simple and helpful tips that you can easily apply for you to enjoy that much-deserved vacation with your loved ones.

1. Plan ahead. As early as possible, identify specific places of interest which you want to go see and do the arrangements already. This will enable you to avail of promotional deals and special offers and freebies particularly for off-season dates.

2. To avoid leaving any vital item behind, prepare a listing of things to do and bring. It may include clothes, food, medicines, toiletries, towels, or spare beddings. Gather everything at least two weeks before the trip so you'll still have enough time to shop for those that you do not have yet.

3. Keep toddlers and kids busy and entertained when they are not taking their nap on the road. Remember to bring along with you their favorite books and toys because they'll surely come in handy in case of heavy traffic. Bring also a CD of their much loved songs so that you can just pop it in the player anytime.

4. Invest in a reliable GPS (global positioning system) unit. This can be most useful if you're not very familiar with the route to take or if you or your travel companion isn't well versed with reading maps. In case you're leasing a maxi cab, which is one of the most common vehicles offered by limousine services for Airport Transfer, request for a GPS unit installed in the vehicle.

5. To save some money, make it a point to prepare your own snacks so you will not have to buy anymore along the way. It will be wise to pack them individually for easy distribution and handling. Freeze drinks like water bottles and juice boxes beforehand and place them in insulated picnic bags so you could enjoy cool, chilled drinks by the time you start munching.
