What Does Happen When You Recycle Tires

By George Dodson

There are so many cars found today. Tires are essential for all the cars. There are a wide variety of sizes and types of tires available. Tires are required for both small and large vehicles. One thing is for sure, these tires wear out. You need to take some decisions when such things happens. You have to do something with it. If you buy new tires at a tire outlet, most of the time, they will take those tires off your hands. They discard them sometimes. They also put them up for sale to people who are just looking for a spare.

What actually happens when a tire is recycled?

Tires are considered to be the largest sources of waste. Tire farms dot all the states. It actually consists of thousands of tires. These tires are used very little. They can be ground up and turned to what is termed ?crumb.? These are mostly used as filler.

Most of the landfills do not prefer used tires. They can also trap large amounts of methane gas. They then become buoyant and rise to the surface. Most landfills have liners that keep the contents from damaging the groundwater in the area. Tires tend to upset this process.

Research is done to find out the uses of these tires. Ground up tires can be used as filler in landfills. They can also use this byproduct as a cap on landfills. These tires can be shredded onsite it is the only convenience.

In addition to landfills, tires are shredded and uses in hot melt asphalt. It is also used in replacement asphalt. Those crumbs are also used in certain kinds of concrete as a filler. Many people use old tires around the home and in the garden. They are also used for making flowerbeds. The grindings are used as mulch in gardens.

New processes such as Pyrolysis can used to turn old tires in the fuel gas. Devulcanization is a process that uses old tires into crumb. Devulcanization is the method commonly used for turning old tires into crumb. This material can be used in making new tires. That means a reduction in raw material costs.

In this process the tires are heated in a huge vessel in an oxygen free environment. The rubber when gets soft breaks down into smaller molecules. The molecules then vaporize leaving the reactor. The vapors can be used as a power source by burning them.

Most of the companies use this process. It is of great help for both the environment and the companies.
