Jeep Cylinder Heads Versions And Types

It helps if one has a knowledge with the parts and automotive techniques when it comes to jeep and vehicular engines. This is very practical and keeps maintenance costs low. If you know the basics of automotive, you will definitely have an idea what is wrong with the engine. Consequently, you will know which parts need repair or replacement.

If you own a four wheel drive, you better be knowledgeable about the parts that make the system work properly. Large vehicles could cause fatal commotion if involved in accidents. There are jeep cylinder heads and they are of different types. Make sure you read on to know their differences and functions.

There are very vintage cylinders and they are the original models back in the eighties. These are the models that are known to be the quickest in the decade. They are not totally phased out so you can still see some running these days.

Cast iron is the main metal used in making these parts. The nineteen eighty seven model contains exhaust ports and fuel injectors. It has a Visual Identification Point which is later adopted in the latest models. The exhaust ports are shaped letter D in this unit and the VIP is rectangular in shape.

Year nineteen ninety model looks the same with the first model but they have a different rear components. If you try to look at the area of the ports, you will see that the holes hold a different shape. Instead of D shape, they are now squarish. The injectors, on the other hand, are a lot smaller than that of the previous model.

The next model is the ninety six to ninety nine. There are two receiver holes in the head of the cylinder which casts dowel pins. The valve is shaped like a beehive with the purpose of making the pressure a little bit lighter on the valve. In addition, it now has a cover of the rocker and a gasket for protection.

Still a newer version which came out in ninety nine still has two dowel holes and receptacles but this time, they are much smaller than the previous models. The VIP is also located right beside the spark plug making the running mechanism quicker. And the vehicle will look lighter as it runs. Coil packs and bosses are also added into the unit.

These parts differ in the year of manufacture but they serve a similar purpose, to improve the running capacity and performance of the jeep. The new additions, especially on the spark plug side, boosts the performance of the jeep as well. Hence, the newer the version, is, the faster and more efficient the vehicle works.

The different versions are for different types of jeep because there are still some old vintage ones that are still up and running to date. The new ones require the newest version because they have more demands in their engines which are much stronger and more functional. Thus, it is important to understand these differences so that when you buy replacements, you will buy the right part.
