Looking to sell a car or just simply buying one then there are necessary and mandatory steps to be taken. The transfer proves ownership of vehicle and titling and registration can be completed in one step. There are specific documents that will be needed for a New York car title transfer. As a customer at a dealer principle all the title steps will be done for you. For temporary measures there is a temporary registration along with licence plates that would all be issued to you. Having information such as current insurance policy, broker, drivers licence and current ownership should there be a trade in or plate transfer.

The city gives new comers and chance to get settled in and get things transferred over. Within thirty days the paperwork must be taken care of in order for validity. Duplicate title can not be obtained online however by mail by filling out an application and the cost is about a twenty dollar fee which can be paid by cheque or money order. Going in person is another option make sure to have personal identification. For safety reasons the re issuing is not done online. Can be a good option to keep a copy somewhere like a safe or with other important family documents.

Eliminating delays or other hiccups along the way is simply done by having all documentation in order before taking a visit to the local DMV. Any licenced dealer will complete all the paperwork for the buyer and usually there are cots involved, keep in mind the process is only between one to two days.
