Significance Of Smog Check Murrieta Program

By Leslie Ball

In the recent years smog is becoming a great challenge to many towns in the world. It has many negative effects to the surrounding with the most fatal ones being a cause of respiratory illness and causing poor visibility on the roads a condition that leads to increased accidents. This has instigated the government to enact smog check Murrieta laws that will help in controlling the level of air pollution.

It has been made a basic requirements to all vehicles in the city of Murrieta, CA that before it starts it operations it should been registered under this new policy on environmental management. All models that were manufactured between the year 1974 and 2002 are subject to this legislation. The law states that all motor vehicles are taken for the check after every two years of working.

Registration renewal of these inspection program takes place annually and it is required that the owners visit the service stations where the inspection takes place and a small fee of up to 300 US$ is charged. Upon clearance, every driver is issued with a certificate of compliance every time they renew it. A sticker is also put on the vehicles to show that it has complied with the law which makes it easy for the officials in-charge of environmental management.

There are numerous test stations in this city. They are well equipped with all facilities and well trained officials have been employed here to conduct the required tasks. In most cases the inspection is done at these stations where by the cars are taken through a series of qualitative tests and their results are recorded. The amount of emission is recorded and its matter is analyzed to find out which gases are being released into the atmosphere where the vehicles are put on the roads.

High level of efficiency is expected for all the automobiles thus strict measures are taken against those who do not meet the expected standards. If the vehicles does not meet the required level of cleanliness of the fumes it is emitting then fines are charged to the owners and ordered to take them for maintenance and repair of the faulty systems. The fines levied depend on the level of toxicity of the fumes thus the worse the condition of the engine the higher the amount to be paid.

The law requires that all vehicles in this state are enrolled into this environmental conservation plan. However there have been exemptions in application of this law especially on the state owned vehicles and military ones which have a short operational time of about two years. It is assumed that within this period that it is difficult to have developed any technical problems thus they are in good shape.

With advanced technology, emission control systems are being fitted in cars. They role is to ensure proper fuel consumption and maintenance of the engines. This has helped to reduce the amount of emissions being produced in the city.

The enactment of this law has been of great importance. Since it was put into place there has been a decline in the number of road accident also the air is becoming cleaner as indicated by reports by researchers. A recommendation is being made to all cities experiencing this problem to come up with measures to control these levels.
