ZDDP, Zinc dialyldithiophosphate, is basically a compound whose use was introduced over seventy years ago, and is regularly added to motor and engine oils. It became widely famous as the most cost-effective anti wear additive to metal-on-metal parts of engines. The compound was originally designed for use in airplanes, but was quickly found to be also effective in truck and car engines purposely for its anti-wear property. ZDDP oil treatment is a mixture of both zinc and phosphorous, and it has been concluded to be the best way of protecting cars which have high-performance old engines, if arguments from several researches and studies are anything to go by.

Zinc is the chemical element that is majorly constituted in ZDDP oils, and the uses of these oils are numerous. Spanning from lubricating metal components of engines, to improving the ultimate performance levels of the engines, these oils are also essential in preventive maintenances.

The better performance formulas instilled in the ZDDP engine oils majorly stabilize the said motor oils, ultimately. The end result of this is better protection and insurance of the engines against many shortcomings that are associated with them, thermal breakdown and viscosity being the most notorious ones.

ZDDP is an anti-wear agent that makes lubricants have a high-viscosity finish and is specially designed to help in the fight of metal-to-metal contact. This is majorly enhanced by providing a cushion that is thicker, in between parts of moving and locomotive parts of engines. Its paramount significance is protecting engine against wear. Alongside lubricating the locomotive engine parts, it also serves other notable functions like reducing burning of oil.

These oils are also notably important should be properly formulated with stock oils at base levels, and are suited best to parts that generate a lot of pressure like lifters and flat tappets, among others.

The engine oils supplemented with zinc are most preferable to parts that produce a lot of pressure that may result in friction, for example lifters and many others. To optimize their performance, they should be accurately formulated with base stock lubricants. It can be concluded that the use of ZDDP oils are of colossal importance, as far as maintaining engine parts is concerned.
