Searching For European Automotive Specialists

By Betty Brooks

All cars at some time will need some kind of repair or routine servicing. If the vehicle was made in Europe and you live overseas it can sometimes be difficult to find the spares needed to carry out these jobs. When searching for european automotive specialists there are a few places to look and they can be found after a little research.

There may be parts stores in your neighborhood that will stock items for non US made vehicles. If they do not carry these spares normally they still may be able to source them and order them in for you. It is worth noting that if items have to be ordered from Europe there may be some delay due the time it takes to ship them overseas.

Most neighborhoods will have stores and mechanics shops that will have what you need to get your car back on the road. There are businesses in Duluth, GA that will carry European spares and have fully trained technicians available to undertake work on your car. Some companies also specialize in old or classic vehicles that are no longer made or sold.

Auto stores normally carry a large stock of parts for vehicles from the smallest nuts and washers to full exhaust systems and engine blocks. Wheels, brakes and trim may also be found. If you are visiting a store to buy spares it is advisable to take the old one along so that it can be compared to the replacement.

The internet is another good place to find mechanics who work with European made vehicles and to buy spares. Most of the sites will have a list of parts for you to browse and have details of engineers and what they specialize in. When ordering items from a web based company be prepared for shipping charges to be added to the total price of the order.

There may also be junk yards in your local area that specialize in scrapping old or damaged cars and this can be a useful place to look. Some of these yards will strip down the cars and keep any useful parts in their warehouses or allow you take parts of cars when you visit. Always make sure that second hand parts are in good condition before re fitting them to another vehicle.

In some towns and cities you may find car clubs that operate for drivers of European cars. Many of these organizations will have a stock of spares that members have donated or offer for sale. These clubs are worth joining as other members will be on hand to assist you with your search for parts and you may benefit from discounts when using certain suppliers.

It is important to always use genuine factory parts if at all possible and only let trained mechanics work on your car. After market spares are available for many vehicles and in most cases they will be adequate replacements and fit for purpose. If your car is still under guarantee from the manufacture then only use genuine spares as any others will cancel these guarantees and could be costly if your car suffers a major mechanical failure.
