Makers Of Supercars Not Hurting Due To Gas Price Hike

By Cornelius Nunev

Gas costs have been rising, and most consumers are feeling the pinch. However, firms that make supercars have not really noticed. There are a growing number of high performance green cars, but that hasn't stemmed the tide of traditional performance vehicles in the least. A person can afford a few additional dollars at the pump if they can afford an Aston Martin.

Bugatti speed at McLaren

McLaren, the race vehicle business and boutique sports vehicle maker, is starting to work on a new car that will debut in 2014, according to AutoWeek. The MP4-12C was released by the business known for releasing the fastest road car in the world, the F1. Now, McLaren has a new project. The car will get about 800 horsepower with its 5-liter motor. The vehicle is expected to cost $500,000 for everyone that is interested. It should go 0 to 200 miles per hour faster than the Bugatti Veyron can with 2.8 seconds need to go from 0 to 60.

The work available at GM

CNN states that about 250 new jobs will be added to General Motors in order to invest $131 million into a new Corvette. This is so it can develop a Chevrolet's sports car that is even better. The Corvette has been produced since 1981 in the Bowling Green, Ky., GM plant and will continue to do so for the next few years with the new vehicle, which means many jobs will be opening up. Right now there is not a release date or information on the car has been released. The name ZL1 Camaro is a new Camaro Chevrolet is coming out with. Popular Mechanics reports it won't be available until 2012 though. The ZL1 will have the same engine the Cadillac CTS-V has. It produces more than 550 horsepower with its 6.2L V-8 engine.

Considering the environment

Performance automobile makers are concerned about the environment a little bit, although the cars that come from these automakers do not generally concern themselves with the environment. In order to produce a "green" McLaren, the automaker is hoping to get some hybrid car engineers. The new 918 Spyder is a vehicle sold by Porsche currently that is a plug-in hybrid that will top out at 199 miles an hour, drives three more miles than the plug-in Prius hybrid can on electric power alone and will go from 0 to 60 in 3.1 seconds, reports USA Today. It gets 78 miles per gallon in it too. According to the Daily Mail, Ferrari released last year a hybrid version of the 599. It hopes to, by 2015, have hybrid versions of all of its vehicles. The 599 HY-KERS is the name of the car that can get up to 25 miles per hour while going 200 miles in one hour of driving. It has the same V-12 motor too. By 2015, Lamborghini plans to have a hybrid out. It declared this in 2009, Popular Science states. It seems even the worst vehicles are going green. Every person wants to conserve the environment.
