Having Decent Oil Changes Cedar Park

By Jocelyn Davidson

Having proper preventive maintenance done to your car is the ideal way to extend the life and use of your vehicle, no matter the age. Oil changes Cedar Park at any local shop will include the filter, a minimum of 4 quarts and normally a 24 point check. Here is what you can expect out of a shop who specializes in this service.

Your fluid change should be scheduled for around every three thousand miles on a newer car, and near the five thousand mile mark for older trucks or cars. This is simply because many newer vehicles do not have the piston wear in the engine area that older ones will have due to age. So newer ones will require it more frequently to keep it from getting to that point.

You will be asked to either pull your vehicle onto a lift in a shop or over a grated floor area in a shop. This area is available so that mechanical workers can get access to your drain plug and undercarriage. This is the first thing that is done when getting an exchange done.

Your vehicle will have a drain pan placed beneath the plug so no fluids are able to escape to the floor or other areas that are uncontrolled. Then the drain plug is unscrewed and all fluid will drip out, so the filter can be taken off. This is done with a filter wrench in a counter clockwise position, and the new one is screwed back on. Just before this, a few drops of fluid are rubbed onto the ring inside the lip of the filter to keep any other fluids from leaking once it is replaced.

Now they will add in enough fluid to fill your vehicle, so it can require four to six quarts of oil to fill it completely. A smaller four cylinder car would only use 4 quarts, while the larger six and eight cylinder trucks and cars will use more. Once it is filled, a technician will check to be certain of the level and will continue to add until it is full. Many professional shops offer a 24 area inspection before they let you leave.

The 24 point check will include checking wiper fluid, transmission fluid, an undercarriage lube check as well as air pressure in the tires. The workers will also check for any leaks while your vehicle is being looked at. Any issues that are found will be brought to your attention prior to leaving the area.

When looking at businesses to take your truck or car to, it is wise to find out what will be included. Some simply perform the exchange, while others offer free tire rotation and many other services for using their company. Getting the most for your money while using a reputable business will offer you the best deal.

When you are ready to find the ideal place to have yours completed at, call different businesses to find out if they use an ASE certified mechanic. These persons are trained by professionals to be able to work on a car and will give you the best information on anything that may be going on with the vehicle. To get details on the services or mechanics, talk to a trusted mechanically inclined friend.
