The Right Method To Clean Hankook Tires

By Miles R. Rau

Hankook Tires is one of several common vehicle tire manufacturers that have a wide range of products to fit just about any vehicle. Like most tire makers, they have an ample range of tire sizes and tread designs that will also accommodate modified and custom vehicles that have oversized wheels or that require a particularly aggressive tread on the tires. Of course, even if you have an especially rugged vehicle, you want it to look good with its wheels. There are many ways you can approach the maintenance and cleaning of your tires and wheels, but you want to be sure that you are following the manufacturer's recommendations and that you do not accidentally harm the finish of your rims.

Soft brushes are best for using on Hankook Tires because a hard or bristled brush could be hazardous to the sensitive sidewalls. The outer parts of the tires are especially susceptible to damage and thus you want to be extra careful when going over these areas with your scrub brush. You can either use a special formula of tire cleaning product or just liquid detergent and water to clean off your tires; either will do a fine job and will keep them clean of debris, dust, and dirt One simple way to keep your tires in the best condition and looking great is to dry them off after cleaning and coat them with a tire dressing that strengthens the rubber.

The rims that attach to your Hankook Tires also need attention; when you clean rims with a painted finish you should be careful to avoid harsh chemical products. Caustic chemicals have been known to permanently change the appearance of wheel finishes by clouding them or actually stripping the finish right off of them. The finish of your car's doors, hood, and panels are similar to those of painted rims so use the same cleaning agents and scrub brushes that you would for the rest of the vehicle.

Chrome plated wheels should be cared for slightly differently because the finish is a bit more delicate. One smart way to keep your chrome rims from getting damaged is to wax them after each cleaning since this creates a protective coating.

With just some occasional cleaning and attention to detail, you can keep your Hankook Tires and wheels looking great. Before you start using any new sponges, brushes, or cleaning products, confirm that they will not harm your tires or wheels.
